Project Overview

The Amazing Grace project transformed an existing 73,742-square-foot former convent—with three stories above grade plus a basement—into a vibrant senior living community in Chicago’s Norwood Park neighborhood near suburban Park Ridge, IL. 

Kinzie’s work primarily focused on converting the building’s original 60 bedrooms into 72 residences, with 44 units designed for assisted living located on the first and second floors and 28 memory care units on the third floor. The renovation also included adding a host of amenities, including resident dining rooms, an on-site theater room, a game room with simulated bowling, a bistro serving coffee and snacks, an art studio, beauty salons, a fitness center, therapy centers, and a multi-use event space with a performance stage. Kinzie upgraded finishes and added custom millwork in the renovation of individual units.

The project also included the restoration of historic elements, including 19th-century stained-glass windows in the existing chapel.
