Lead Superintendent
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Lead Superintendent is responsible for managing field operations for a variety of project types in and around Chicago. The role includes direct oversight of field operations for projects ranging in size from $1M to $60M. The Lead Superintendent directly controls all trade contractors on site for schedule, quality and safety.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reports to General Superintendent
- Supervises assistant superintendents and project engineers, dependent on project size
- Works in tandem with project managers
- Preconstruction – Participates in schedule development, logistic plans, drawing reviews, trade scope reviews, and project planning process
- Preconstruction – Implements site safety and quality control programs and participates in trade kick-off meetings
- Leads weekly site meetings with trades to include 3 week look ahead, open issues, safety training and review, provides meetings minutes for all meetings
- Participates in owner and design team meetings as required
- Develops and maintains project overall schedule, 3 week look ahead and critical path
- Implements & Maintains project safety plan
- Implements & Maintains project quality control plan
- Works with government inspectors on the standard requirements of the site in terms of licenses, safety, and permit inspections.
- Review and approve monthly PO’s for payments to subcontractors, maintains site budget
- Ensures that the budget is followed in terms of purchases and wages
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to lead, supervise, schedule and multitask
- Knowledgeable in building and construction
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Project
- Self-motivated team player
- Procore or similar construction management software experience preferred
